"Natural History Museum-Old Mormon Fort"

Saturday Morning Taylor and Sandi were supposed to go to the movies for two or three hours but bad weather cancelled that event. We were able to spend a great Saturday together at the Old Mormon Fort which abuts the Natural History Museum. Sandi had never been at the old fort. We watched movies and were treated to the last tour of the day just as it started to sprinkle. Before hand we were able to visit the "King Tut" exhibit at the NHM.

We are members but don't get down that often now that Taylor has new interests. Later we took Taylor to her Slumber party where many of the Girls were brought home early Saturday night in order to attend church on Sunday. Taylor got home about 10:00 p.m . Sandi treated me to a beautiful date night dinner(belated Valentine's day) at the Cheesecake Factory where I stuffed myself to the rafters. We went home and enjoyed a hot jacuzzi and watched movies.

It was nice to relax!

Military Rules for "Marines"

Marine Corps Rules:

1. Be courteous to everyone, friendly to no one
.2. Decide to be aggressive enough, quickly enough.
3. Have a plan.
4. Have a back-up plan, because the first one probably won't work.
5. Be polite. Be professional. But, have a plan to kill everyone you meet
.6. Do not attend a gunfight with a handgun whose caliber does not start with a '4.'
7. Anything worth shooting is worth shooting twice. Ammo is cheap. Life is expensive.
8. Move away from your attacker. Distance is your friend. (Lateral & diagonal preferred.)
9. Use cover or concealment as much as possible.
10. Flank your adversary when possible. Protect yours.
11. Always cheat; always win. The only unfair fight is the one you lose.
12. In ten years nobody will remember the details of caliber, stance, or tactics. They will only remember who lived.
13. If you are not shooting, you should be communicating your intention to shoot.

"Hoover Dam" Field Trip

A small portion of the bypass finished. Soon about one less hour of travel to Kingman, AZ and all parts of Arizona will be accomplished.

Everyone of Taylor's 4th Grade friends in her class posed for a picture before the field trip. They told her that if she didn't take their picture they would throw her off the Dam.

"Dokken" concert

Went to the Dokken Concert Saturday night at the Santa Fe, and watched Donny Dokken, (Lead Vocals) Sean McNabb (Bassist and vocals) and Jon Levin ("The Shredder" on lead guitar) and Mick Brown (drums and back up vocals) rock out. The place was packed as expected for the long awaited gig, SRO. Steve and I were center stage but I had to move back away in order to get some good shots. The Meet and Greet went well. Fun was had by all especially after three encores. My hearing should be back to normal by this Tuesday.

After packing most of the day, Sandi picked up Taylor after school Friday and we headed up to Brian Head and to to some chores on the Utah Property. I knew the weather was going to be bad so I thought it better to get a room for the night just in case. We woke up early Saturday, ate a huge breakfast and looked for a place to sled. There were none. We found this kewl tubing place and checked it out. It was right next to a lodge and medical center and for two hours and $15.oo you could go down the hill as many times as you could cycle back up. We had a great time tubing until we were frozen then headed to lodge for some warmth and libation. Of course we stopped in Cedar City at our favorite "Pizza Factory" and chowed down. I ended up having to put the Durango into 4x4 to get up to the property. Unfortunately the snow was about three feet deep and the neighbors had plowed the road but ended up blocking the road down to the property. It was raining and deep snow. If the tractor (why if went up to get it winterized) had been running and not sitting for so long I could have made quick work of clearing the road. Never the less, we decided to turn back, having forgotten the chains for the Durango I didn't want to chance getting stuck.

The ride back to Las Vegas was beautiful. There was a bad wreak, northbound just south of New Harmony. Hopefully no one was hurt. The beautiful white clouds hunkered low against the mountains and we drove through one of the best rain storms I've been through. Taylor watched a movie on the DVD system while Sandi read a book. I just reminisced as my memory rushed back to days of yore.

Were going to try again next weekend now that Sandi has decided to take a break this year and spend more "Family" time with us on the weekends. It was a fun trip!

"Nevada test site Museum"

Last week we went to the Nevada Test Site Museum here in LV. We weren't allowed to take pictures inside. We did go to the gift shop and into another room filled with pictures. I recommend it to everyone.

"Honoring my Father"

My father passed away in 1985. I will really just starting my life back then, I was active duty in the Marine Corps. Dad never really got to see how the family turned out. Dad was a fire chief at Nellis AFB for 35 years. His celebrated career was filled with his respected stature in the community. I remember how proud I was of him when he would come to our Grade School during Fire Prevention week in his Chief's uniform. My dad had a wall full of Certificates, twice he pulled Pilot's out of crashed Military Jets while the aircraft were engulfed in flames. After he retired, he went to work at the Nevada Test Site. Once I received my Q2 Clearance at HMX-1 we were able to share stories. My youngest brother and I had heard that they had placed a plaque in my Dad's honor at Area 51. No one could confirm that. One day my youngest brother met a Lt. Col at an American Legion Veteran's day function. This gentleman facilitated a ride for he and my brother to go to the cite. Dad, like me went by "Al". I think this is the reason they used A. for his middle name instead of H his actual middle initial.

Brad was able to take two pictures from a camera handed to him. He was later sent a wonderful letter and a Declassified CD-R with the pictures. I would like to share it with you on my blog.

My Dad was my hero... I would like to honor him in this new Year of Our Lord, 2010....

Steve sets up his new rifle.... We didn't shoot the SKS today and only Steve and I ended up shooting at the Skeet range. Brad was worn out after 7 hours of shooting and the cold.
