History 101 (Crash course)

For those that don't know about history ... Here is a condensed version:Humans originally existed as members of small bands of nomadic hunters/gatherers. They lived on deer in the mountains during the summer and would go to the coast and live on fish and lobster in the winter. The two most important events in all of history were the invention of beer and the invention of the wheel. The wheel was invented to get man to the beer. These were the foundation of modern civilization and together were the catalyst for the splitting of humanity into two distinct subgroups:1. Liberals, and2. Conservatives.Once beer was discovered, it required grain and that was the beginning of agriculture. Neither the glass bottle nor aluminum can were invented yet, so while our early humans were sitting around waiting for them to be invented, they just stayed close to the brewery. That's how villages were formed. Some men spent their days tracking and killing animals to B-B-Q at night while they were drinking beer. This was the beginning of what is known as the Conservative movement.Other men who were weaker and less skilled at hunting learned to live off the conservatives by showing up for the nightly B-B-Q's and doing the sewing, fetching, and hair dressing. This was the beginning of the Liberal movement. Some of these liberal men eventually evolved into women. The rest became known as girlie-men. Some noteworthy liberal achievements include the domestication of cats, the invention of group therapy, group hugs, and the concept of Democratic voting to decide how to divide the meat and beer that conservatives provided.
Over the years conservatives came to be symbolized by the largest, most powerful land animal on earth, the elephant. Liberals are symbolized by the jackass.Modern liberals like imported beer (with lime added), but most prefer white wine or imported bottled water. They eat raw fish but like their beef well done. Sushi, tofu, and French food are standard liberal fare. Another interesting evolutionary side note: most of their women have higher testosterone levels than their men. Most social workers, personal injury attorneys, journalists, dreamers in Hollywood, and group therapists are liberals. Liberals invented the designated hitter rule because it wasn't fair to make the pitcher also bat.Conservatives drink domestic beer, mostly Bud. They eat red meat and still provide for their women. Conservatives are big-game hunters, rodeo cowboys, lumberjacks, construction workers, firemen, medical doctors, police officers, corporate executives, athletes, members of the military, airline pilots and generally anyone who works productively. Conservatives who own companies hire other conservatives who want to work for a living.Liberals produce little or nothing. They like to govern the producers and decide what to do with the production. Liberals believe Europeans are more enlightened than Americans. That is why most of the liberals remained in Europe when conservatives were coming to America . They crept in after the Wild West was tamed and created a business of trying to get more for nothing. Here ends today's lesson in world history: It should be noted that a Liberal may have a momentary urge to angrily respond to the above before further discussing it.A Conservative will simply laugh and be so convinced of the absolute truth of this history that it will be discussed immediately with other true believers and to more liberals just to tick them off.
And there you have it. Let your next action reveal your true self.

"The Coming of the Lord"

The Coming of the Lord by Gerald Lund of the Seventy was a recently recommended book. Most of you know that I'm huge on stocking up on food supplies and spiritual preparation for the unexpected. Call It a Marine Corps instinct, there is never a minute that I'm lacks in discussing or helping people with there future supplies of the commodities.
This book is perhaps the biggest "wake up call" I have received in my life. Written many years ago, Elder Lund discusses events and prophecies that years later now have actually happened or are happening in this world.
It's no wonder now that I felt such an instinct to look towards Utah and Zion for a refuge and a place of peace and security. I have a sixth sense about things and always have. This book is powerful and eyeopening. I was unable to sleep well for several days after the first time through. But I have never felt an inner peace before as I do now.
With the growing turmoil and fears are rising in the nation and worldwide, Elder Lunds book was able to put me at ease and look towards the second coming rather than face it with a life of apprehension. It has been a road map for reality, for anyone in any religion.
Never before other than during actual combat conditions have I felt a more at ease with my future. Never before during my life in religion have things made more sense than now.
Call it a sixth sense or the spirit guiding me since reading this book, but I have found an ever greater desire and drive to help the members get there food supplies together and their lives in order.
Sandi and I have discussed purchasing this book for each of the wards families as a Christmas gift this year. Never has there been a more open and clear expression of prophecy.
Never before have I felt this kind of direction and guidance.
A must read for all!
God Bless you all.

"I hope our pets are with us in Heaven"

Shortly after we purchased our new Las Vegas home, we were invited out to my secretary's, and former school mates house for a swim and BBQ. They had two beautiful Shetland Sheepdogs somewhat a rare breed in Nevada. Most people are getting pit bulls, Labs, etc., but I thought how cool these little dogs were.
Shortly before giving her notice to leave the business, she told me her dogs had a litter of 6 beautiful puppies. Sandi was adamant about no dogs, but a cat was okay. I learned back in my college days at BYU to like cats, as my former fiance~ had several. She gave me one for my birthday, I named him Barney after the dinosaur character on TV back then, and surprised my wife and two year old with a beautiful Sheltie "puppy"!
Barney never took hold well, as I was new at training him to not do his puppy business on our beautiful carpets in this very new home. (We later put in wood flooring). Most of the time, Sandi spent yelling at the dog for something or the other. All the time it was, Puppy, don't do that! or Puppy, don't P*$ss in the house, etc., it got so bad that when I would call him by his given name Barney, he would look at me like; "Who is this guy calling?"
We later found out what a beautiful or should I say, Handsome breed of dog this was. "Puppy" grew into a rather large male, but it was just fun. We found out he was very perceptive and smart as well. He never did well on road trips (I had to clean up the back of the truck cab many times) so we decided to relegate him to home security duties. He reminds me of "Radar" on M.A.S.H., always one step ahead of what we are doing. He has his routines down. I never need an alarm clock, it's up at 06:30 on the dot, daily. He knows my routines as well. If I start to tie up the garbage bag he's up and ready to go. If I grab my thumper to take out a few "Roof Rat's" he gets wound up like an eight day clock. (which is most of the time anyway.)
He says prayers with us at night, he kneels with us, when I get up in the morning, he stands next to his collar and bandanna until it is where it belongs, and is possessive of his loved one's.
Puppy's my best friend. Never gets mad at me, is always excited to see us, even when Sandi's had a rough day at the restaurant and grumbling on the way in the door, Puppy is always there eager to get his pet.
I hope our pets are with us in Heaven! Since I have little or no contact with my siblings, I would rather all my wonderful pets are there "if" and when I arrive. Puppy is six today! I hope he out lives me. But if not, I hope he is the first thing I see "if" and when I pass through the Pearly Gates. I hope he runs up and jumps in my arms like now. What a great way to start Eternity!
God Bless my Family

Nobama v. Marine's in Vietnam

America with the help of a hapless Congress and an Impotent want to be President, just jumped out of an airplane at 8000 ft. with a faulty main parachute and no clue who packed the reserve chute!
In a time that this country needed to go back to the basics of life, budgets and living within their means, our Socialist leaders threw them bits of bread for a few more days.
In Viet Nam my Marine's fought there hardest, suffered the most when we were all but out of ammo, and food. When their were no re-enforcements. when we had nothing to lose!

We got threw it, and were better men because of it! We came back with dignity and pride!

Now, How does this "Bail Out" work?

Let me see if I understand this? You send your child to college, with a certain amount of cash in the bank and a credit card with a nominal balance to last the entire semester. By the end of mid-semester he/she calls and tells you he/she is out of money cannot account for most of it and might have to drop out of school.
So, you turn right around and give this same child who was irresponsible with his finances, another sum of money in his bank account and a new credit card with another balance????

No questions asked????
Somebody put me out of my misery!

G.A.T.E.s Field Trip into Natural History

Taylor L's Elementary School GATES classes were able to go to their make up Field trip to the Las Vegas Natural History Museum. It snowed in December the day they were supposed to go.
I was able to go as a Chaperone and help with the bus loads of advanced students.
It was an extra treat for Taylor as she has been a member for five years now. Also a member of the Young Scientist Club, Taylor practically acted as a tour guide for everyone and new names and species of almost everything in the building.
It was great to have the directors and managers greet, hug and have a picture with Taylor.
It was fun to see the crowds gather around her as she explained the different exhibits...
I got to take a hundred pictures and videos.
When we got home, Taylor put together a Power Point CD for all the classmates. That and gifts I purchased for all the students at the gift store made for an exciting three hours.
When the teachers told me that they were amazed at Taylor's knowledge of the workings of the museum, I had to explain that for every Saturday we were in town in 2008, she came and visited for hours, attending the Science seminars, working on the weekend projects offered and helping with the lectures...
It was a Saturday project come rain or snow, and we are working on having the family names placed with the rest of the bricks at the entrance of the Museum..
God Bless our youth...

"A Landmark destroyed"

Sadly the nearly 60 year old Logandale, Nevada LDS chapel, a landmark for six decades was destroyed by fire this past week. Foul play was not considered. It will seem strange to drive into Logandale and Overton area without seeing this beautiful Chapel. Members were shaken by it's loss.
I would guess the Church will now build a 21st Century chapel for it's members. But great memories will remain...
I remember when the Chapel on Ocean Ave, in Henderson was razed. It was as if a part of my life was lost. Many wonderful, just wonderful memories... It was where I was baptized.
Where dad was a ward clerk for over a decade.
We await the building of a new one...

God Bless America

President "Fraud" at it again!

Didn't I hear somewhere or everywhere by President fraud, something about the same old players and the same old politics in Washington was why we needed "Change"????
Then why is he renominating everyone from the Bill " I can't keep my pants on" Clinton administration? Or is it just me????

Super Bowl

We were disappointed that the Cardinal's lost the Super Bowl. It was obvious that the Ref's were on the Steelers side. I sat in awe through most of it. Flag after flag. I'm glad the Cowboys weren't playing.
Taylor played with her DS and Al just sat dismayed as a former Staunch Raider's fan, he hates the Steelers going back to Terry Bradshaw. A little L&L BBQ and R&R came in handy as we enjoyed the last game of the season.
Still working with Al on his conversion to the Dallas Team...

"Rock of Love" Bus tour

They say big surprises come in small packages! Local Las Vegas radio KSHP personality and close friend, and the wife's visiting teacher partner Lauren Wood and her awesome husband Billy, called Saturday with two front stage tickets to see the former "Poison" frontman, Bret Michael's and his band perform at the Palms Hotel and Casino, in the Pearl showroom Saturday night. Sandi more of a "New Wave" 80's genre fan declined so I called her brother, my concert partner, and off we went to enjoy two hours of the hits from "Poison" to his new releases. It was a great show, non-stop rock and roll. Bret can put on a show! He's been on my "MySpace" list of people to meet. Cross off another one. Plenty of autographs to go around and meet and greets before and after the concert... Great show.
Lauren and Sandi are a Visiting Teachers team in our church, working hard to get members to up their food storage for the hard times ahead. Laurn and Bill, thank you for always putting us first... As always your the best!

nObama's Continued follies

I think I can see the "Change" nObama was promising more and more each day. Instead of guessing who the corrupt people like the "Messiah" are, we are actually seeing it daily... Perhaps a wake up call for America? It may be too late. All I hear is gloom and doom from the "Messiah" nObama. Perhaps he's predicting his own failed presidency? It the Marionette becoming too overwhelmed by his handlers ???
Now America can see the Black and White (pardon the pun) of true citizens and those who would attempt to fool us. Even in our own Church we are seeing the true believers and the those joining for the free handouts..
It's fun to sit back and see the bilge seep up from the cesspools of the politicians characters and personalities. It's obvious this fraud is in way over his head. The question is how long will true Americans allow it to go on??? Or maybe do I have to pay my taxes???

God Bless America...
